As Kenya heads to General Elections in August this year, voters' ability to make informed choices is likely to be derailed by the proliferation of fake news, according to media experts in Kenya. Research done by Africa Check, an independent fact-checking organisation, indicates that this year's pre-election period has been dominated by fake news. To counter this, Kenya's media regulator, the Media Council of Kenya, and the United Nations have partnered to set up an information verification portal to confirm accuracy.
