Oud, Oudh, Aoud, Gaharu - choose whatever you want to call it - but the end result is the same. Oud remains a mysterious perfume entity that sells for the price of luxury in select markets and sells for peanuts in the rest. Does that make sense ? Yes and No.
There is a huge difference between high end Oud oils and "mass produced" ones. Starting from the raw material to the process to the packaging and its marketing.
Hence there is a wide belief among Oud connoissuers that commercial Oud markets have nothing special left in them and to quench their thirsts they seek those who are new age Artisans producing high quality limited oils.
For once I am convinced that this Sub 100 $ range by a middle east Oud giant from India, Ajmal Perfumes, can not only bridge the gap but also threaten this very belief.
I urge you to try this special oil by Ajmal Perfumes that goes by the name Dahn al Oudh Amiri in select markets.
Kindly contact sikander.zari@gmail.com to procure this oil anywhere in the world. I bought mine from the Ajmal retail outlet in Bangalore, India and I understand you cannot do so.
