The German Film Museum (Deutsches Filmmuseum) is one of seven film museums in Germany. The museum is located in Frankfurt and housed in a listed historic villa. The German Film Museum is dedicated to film. The origins of the film, its development and future are the theme of the permanent exhibition, which begins before the "invention" of cinema in 1895 and traces its development to the present day. In addition, it lets the visitors understand by what means the film images achieve the intended effect of the director. Temporary exhibitions are dedicated to the work of filmmakers and examine thematic aspects of the film.
