"Gabriel Dee, the well-known Astrologer and Psychologist - discusses birthdays - " A middle aged woman sits at a desk and asks: "How many of you were born between May the 20th and June 21st?' This is the criteria for the star sign Gemini. Great graphic showing the signs of the zodiac with a revolving globe in the centre appears.
Gabriel reads from a book - she describes all the characteristics of Gemini. She says "Mercury is the planet of speed and the written and spoken word. Watch his children at work." Shots of women at a telephone exchange and a woman chatting on the 'phone in a telephone box are used as good examples of the Gemini type. All clerical workers, shorthand, typing, filing, general office routine, draftsmanship, everyone here from the editor downwards is on "Gemini Work". The theory is illustrated by footage of clerical and publishing workers.
"The Talkies and everyone connected with them and every possible kind of publicity" suggests Gabriel are manned by people of the sign of Gemini. A shot of a cameraman and the neon lights of London are used to illustrate this proposition. "If you are a Gemini person and are in any one or other job of this kind then you will be successful.
Look at these, all Mercury activities. Mercury himself." Short shot of a statue of Mercury. "A real winged messenger" - biplane in flight. "Speed and more speed" - various forms of transport, ocean liner, steam locomotive. "The spoken word" - shot of BBC Broadcasting House. "Somewhere here your real work lies, or that of your June born children. A word about your health. You are nervy and highly strung. You should practice repose and relaxation. You should learn to be able to sit still.
Your virtues? You are resourceful, well informed, active, sharp. Your faults - you are changeable and may be talkative. Beware of having too many irons in the fire. Also be careful and not be diffuse (? I think that is what she says?)
"You will be happy if you marry people born in either October or January (shot of a calendar.) Your lucky day is Wednesday, your lucky numbers 8, 12, 17. Your colours are mauve, grey, orange. Your stone is the Opal or Agate. Use which ever you like." Gabriel Dee writes something in her notes and the image fades to black. Fab!
