Can a malicious hacker turn your webcam on without the light? Absolutely! Though something to consider. An attacker would need full administrator privileges to overwrite drivers or firmware. With that level of access, why snap a picture when they can access your photos and everything you type including your banking password.

This means a malicious hacker probably wouldn’t do this attack as there is no profit in it. Though professional hackers and researchers use this attack as a demonstration of what feels impossible like something out of a movie. It feels scarier and real, more of an invasion of privacy.

Though to avoid the risk - don’t download malware, tape over the camera, or simply embrace it and dance as if no one is watching. Subscribe and Hack on.
