Introduction:
BrahMos is in true sense the Brahmastra of India. Be it land or water, the missile sends a shiver down the spine of adversaries, simply because it's the fastest supersonic cruise missile in the world capable to evade the air defense. As we all know that the manufacturing plant which is going to be setup in India is part of UP defense corridor and will be setup in Lucknow. On 26th December 2021 defense minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone for the BrahMos Missile production. In this video we will discuss some obvious questions such as when the manufacturing unit will be ready for production, what will be the capacity of the production unit, some key specifications of BrahMos NG and its integration in IAF. So let’s get started.
Defense minister lays foundation stone:
Now before we move on to the questions we must listen to what our defense minister has said while laying foundation stone of BrahMos missile production unit. Shri Rajnath Singh said that India is manufacturing missile not to attack any nation. In history, we have never encroached on any neighboring country land or invaded any nation. India wants to Manufacture BrahMos just to ensure that no nations with ill intentions dare to attack India.
Manufacturing unit for Brahmos
Previously UP government has allotted land for setting up a plant in Lucknow on a token lease of Re 1. It is part of the memorandum of understanding signed between DRDO and UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) during Defence Expo held last year in February. The estimated cost of the project is about Rs 300 crore. As per UP state government claim over 5,000 people will get direct and 10,000 indirect employment from this venture. The BRAHMOS Manufacturing Centre, announced by BrahMos Aerospace, is a modern, state-of-art facility in the Lucknow. It will cover over 200 acres and produce the new BRAHMOS-NG (Next Generation) variant, which carries forward the lineage of the BRAHMOS weapons system. This new center would be ready over the next two to three years and will commence production at a rate of 80-100 BRAHMOS-NG missiles per year. Each BrahMos-NG missile will cost over approximately $2.6 million.
