This Melbourne Art Tram is a tribute to the late artist Ellen José (Torres Strait Islander) and her work ‘Reach out and touch – distance and time’.
As told by the artist, “Reach out and touch – distance and time emphasises the enduring impact of war on everyone involved, not just those on the frontlines but also their partners, children, families and friends back home.” The artwork highlights the 50th Anniversary of the Kokoda campaign in New Guinea.
Search for Tram #3023 on the tramTRACKER app to find Ellen’s tram along routes 109 and 48.
Curated by Jarra Karalinar Steel (Boon Wurrung/Wemba Wemba) and presented by RISING in partnership with Public Transport Victoria, Yarra Trams and Creative Victoria.
