“By Allah, this is not the face of a liar.”

From April 2-4, 2021, al-Maqasid held a retreat titled, 'On Creed: A Study of Book 2 of the Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din', the second of forty books in Imam al-Ghazali’s masterpiece, Ihya' 'Ulum al-Din'. Book 2 provides what a traveler on the path to know Allah the Exalted needs to believe. In this introductory session, Shaykh Yahya Rhodus explains the topic of the retreat through Book 2’s title, Kitab Qawa’id al-‘Aqa’ida, its relationship to the science of the way to the Hereafter (‘ilm tariq al-akhira), the meaning of ‘Iman’, and the concept of Fitra. Shaykh Yahya also relates inspiring stories of some of the Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, who experienced the Reality of Iman.
