How to grow Wheat in Barani areas | Wheat cultivation in Rainfed areas | Wheat Production Technology | Abid Ali Agrarian
In this video, I will try to explain the Production Technology of Wheat Crop for Barani areas. Wheat crop in Rainfed regions is grown from 20th October to 20th November. Late sowing of wheat crop should be discouraged. Timely sowing of wheat seed gives high grains yield. Wheat sowing time is very critical to get maximum yield.
Seedrate is 40 to 50 kg per acre.
Seed treatment by fungicide such as Thiophanate methyl is necessary to avoid loose smut, wheat blast etc which are seed borne diseases. It is used @ 2 gram per kg seed.
Land preparation: Deep plough before rainy season monsoon is necessary to conserve moisture. At sowing time, double plough and heavy planking will be helpful to moisturize wheat seed and it's germination.
Fertilizer plan for Barani areas is divided into three catagory on the basis of rains in these areas.
Low rainy areas such as Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Bhakker, Dera ghazi Khan - 0.5 bag DAP, 0.5 bag Urea, half bag SOP or MOP.
Medium rainy areas such as Chakwal, khawshab, Talagang - 1 bag DAP, 1 bag Urea, 1 bag SOP or MOP.
Heavy rain areas such as Jhelum, Narowal, Attack, Rawalpindi, Sohawa, Shakergarh, Gujrat, Kharian - 1.5 bag DAP, 1.5 bag Urea, 1.5 bag SOP or MOP.
Weeds control is also important to achieve the goal of highest yield in Rainfed areas.
