(18 Sep 1969) The GLC's Twenty million pound purification scheme for the Thames is already bringing results. Anglers join in a fishing experiment - and prove that fish can survive and breed in the formerly heavily polluted waters in the heart of London. Fishing is one of the most popular leisure activities - while Boating is helping to give a new lease of leisure life to our often neglected inland waterways. A Club on the Regent Canal in London, teaches the basics of boating to youngsters for a mere sixpence a week. The idea of Lord St. Davids, it could inspire an interest in water sports among many thousands of less privileged children in urban areas all over the country.
