Using Technology in Adult Learning Theory:
Today more than ever, learning contains technology that supports the entire learning process. This presents a great opportunity to choose technology that meets the needs of the adult learner. Learning technologies bring many benefits to learning experiences. They are used by learning professionals throughout the design, development, and delivery of learning experiences, and also by the adults who access the content. Answer the question, "What is an appropriate technology for a learning program and how will I know?" Choosing technology for a learning experience starts with considering needs- the needs of the organization, job or task, and the individual. It's important to start by thinking about the learning objectives and how technology can help meet those objectives. The technology options you select should encourage connection, engagement, and interaction. It's important to create a non-judgmental environment for adult learners where they are free to learn from mistakes. Learn how to employ existing technologies available in your organization and where to look for new learning technologies that suit each unique adult learning experience.
