On the third day of the NextMed Health Conference 2023, taking place in San Diego, Zayna Khayat and Lucien Engelen sit down with the Host of Faces of Digital Health Tjasa Zajc, to share their impression of the healthcare transformation trends presented at the former Exponential Medicine event, notorious for its cutting-edge innovation presentations.
Key points:
- telemedicine is gone from the digital health innovation vocabulary,
- we're missing debates about carbon footprint in healthcare,
- retail clinics are not as much of a topic in Europe yet, but Netherlands is working on a project with 35 stakeholders to assess options,
- may it be ecosystems, system change, the multi-variable, multi-stakeholder change IS the innovation.
Zayna Khayat, based in Canada, is VP Client Success Teladoc Health in Canada, In house health futurist at Deloitte Canada's Life Sciences & Healthcare team and Adjunct faculty with the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management in the Health Sector Strategy stream.
Lucien Engelen, based in the Netherlands, operates globally at the convergence of Innovation & Strategy for executive boards, governments, corporates, and professionals via his company Transform.Health and via his (part-time) role as Global Strategist Digital health for Deloitte’s Center for the Edge (Amsterdam, Melbourne, and San Francisco) where he leads Global Digital Health, for Laurentius Medical Center, and for Vodafone’s Center for Health.
