Hey everyone. It's Evangeline right here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at how the Inno Wedge 660 Rooftop Cargo Box fits on a 2022 Tesla Model Y. Key things for this box on the Model Y is that it's a great fit. You can move it as far forward, that way you have hatch access in the back. But also it looks pretty good because of its aerodynamic shape.
You can actually get this in two different colors. So I personally prefer the glossy white, just because it's different than a lot of the other rooftop cargo boxes. You can also get this in black. It's gonna work the exact same way, just a different shade. With longer boxes you may start wondering can I still open up the hatch of my vehicle As you can see here, I pushed it as far forward as we could put it with the clamps, and we still have plenty of clearance from the top of the hatch to the bottom of the box.
So no worries about making contact. Now when putting a roof box on, I personally like to put it as far to the driver's side as I can, so it's offset. That way I can put some other accessories on the other side. In our case here this is 33 inches wide, and you don't really get that much extra space for other accessories, so I had it centered. That's cool if you want a nice evenly distributed look, but you are gonna have to reach a little bit further and over in order to open up your box.
The Tesla has a glass roof and a really low clearance roof rack. And I'm really happy to see that this is a fit because of its low profile clamps, you don't have to worry about it accidentally scratching your roof. You're a good fit there. Opening up the box, you do get two keys, and the keys are all keyed alike. So this just turns to the unlocked position.
There's still clearance to let that hang. Then you just press this button, and like that your box is now prized open. So you can use two hands to lift up on the lid, and it stays in place. This has a 110 pound weight capacity, so it's an 11 cubic feet box. Where it does have some limitations though, is gonna be the height. So this has a maximum height of eight and a half inches. For your taller suitcases, luggage not gonna be the best spot for you. But still plenty of space for your small surfboards or your snowboards with tall bindings. What I would like is a little string to bring this down, to make it easier to bring down the lid, since I have to get into the door to reach this. But other than that once this pops down, you can hear it click. And if you're still not sure if it's secure, if you're unable to take out the keys you know it still has another click to go. If you can take out the keys, it's locked and ready to ride. The view from inside. Sitting in the driver's seat or the passenger's seat, can't see the box. I would have to intentionally lean over and look up to see a little bit of the front of the box. Which is great because I still have full visibility. So this is made of a durable ABS plastic, which keeps the box light weight at 42 pounds, but also of solid construction. That's gonna be the same material you find on like the spoilers of vehicles. Now with that in mind, this also has an acrylic gloss on it to make it extra shiny. But while it is resistant to scratches and UV rays, over time wear and tear will happen. So just try to avoid parking underneath trees and branches, and be careful when you store it inside of your garage. And that was a look at the Inno Wedge 660 Roof Mounted Cargo Box, on our 2022 Tesla Model Y.
