We took a three and a half hour road trip across the Mexico Yucatan to Merida and stopped at a cute little city called Izamal, otherwise known as the "Yellow City". Izamal is a fun half day stop with fun little shops, and a small Mayan ruin that you can climb.
We were very disappointed with Merida during COVID. Many of the museums and tourist spots were closed (April 2021). However, we really enjoyed the horse and carriage ride around town, checking out the local shops, and eating at some good restaurants.
