Thank you much to Zoren for recording and the thumbnail!!
Thank you Firefanged for the edited video!!
I still cannot believe that this run is real. I am so fucking happy that was I finally able to pull it off. I am so happy that it subbed 1 minute as well, as this is likely the final sub minute barrier left in the game with the current strats. I am still in shock that I have a world record in Mario Kart Wii, and I am so happy that it was the first 3/3 on Rainbow Road Glitch of all things.
I began grinding this glitch earlier this year, and I remember struggling a lot on it at the beginning. I literally fell off the track after I landed it for the first time lol. After many many hours, I decided to grind for 2/3 to show I was capable of amazing things on this track. The grind was very long and tedious andmy glitches didn't happen super often, and I had other categories I was going for at the time. After improving some of my other tracks, I decided to come back to this category and had high motivation for 2/3. I had been grinding non stop to the point where my glitch consistency was starting to rise to about 3-4 per hour, then out of seemingly nowhere I finally got my very first 2/3, but I was not done there. Based on my consistency, I knew that 3/3 was definitely within reach, so I decided to start grinding for it.
I was genuinely shocked that in my first 3/3 stream after 2/3 I had an attempt at lap 3 glitch, which further cemented the fact that I was totally capable of this grind. It was unreal to see me get consistent glitches in streams, since most of my streams earlier in the year consisted of only a few clips per stream. I started to get more and more 3/3 attempts, many of them were extremely close. The only thing holding me back was my nerves, as no other category I have ever played has caused nerves like this before. I started shaking pretty much every time I entered lap 3, but even if it took my 100 3/3 attempts, I really wanted to get it.
On December 28th, 2023, I achieved a 58 on Yoshi Falls, which was a grind that took me quite a while to achieve, so on December 28th, 2024 I really wanted to recapture the luck that I had on Yoshi Falls, so I dedicated that day to a long stream in hopes of getting better luck. To my surprise I started the stream strong with 3 2/3s and a great clip consistency. Near the end of the stream I was starting to feel a bit tired, but I had 40 clips, which was really good for a session. Just when I was about to start the final attempts countdown, I got a high clip, then I clipped again on lap 2. I went into lap 3 as calm as possible and focused my mind only on clipping. I could not believe my eyes when I saw I was midair lap 3. I barely landed back and held it together to finish off the run. Nothing beat the feeling of finishing that last turn after hitting 3 glitches in a row.
No words can express how relieving and excited it was to finish that run. That final time seems so unreal for a Rainbow Road run. I cannot believe that I can say that I have finished Rainbow Road in under 1 minute.
I cannot thank Zoren enough for his efforts and dedication to this track. If I didn’t get 3/3, he would absolutely be the person to get it. Zoren helped me get my first ever high clip on this track and was here for the 3/3, helping me perfect my glitches and consistency along the way. I could not have done this by myself. I want to thank Core, Danny, and Eli as well for being in streams often and encouraging me on my Rainbow Road goals. Thank you as well to the Amazing Tasers who made this possible as well, their efforts have been incredible on this category the last 2 years. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has ever followed, subscribed, watched, liked, or viewed any streams or attempts I have had, it means the world to me and I love all you guys. This was a community effort and I wouldn't have done this by myself, so thank you everyone!
I remember discovering mkwrs.com about 6 years ago, hoping to get there someday. I hope I made you proud young Owen.
More to come, stay tuned!
