Widely scattered rain showers that slowly drifted across the Quad Cities area this afternoon continue to fade away this evening. Most locations that experienced rain reported under 1/10th of an inch (Davenport Airport 0.08"). However, Doppler radar estimates were as high as 0.35" near Stockton, and just west of Blue Grass and Buffalo, Iowa. The showers are dissipating as drier air works its way into the region. Skies are expected to clear overnight allowing for temperatures to fall to around 40 degrees. No frost is expected tonight, or in the foreseeable future.
Wednesday and Thursday will be pleasant Spring days with sunshine in the morning giving way to a few fair weather cumulus clouds in the afternoon. High temperatures will creep closer to normal by Thursday, with a forecasted high of 72.
A nice warm-up is on store for the weekend as dry Pacific high pressure air suppresses any cloud development. Abundant sunshine will help drive afternoon temperatures toward 80 by Sunday.
Looking even further ahead, the next chance of significant precipitation may hold off until the middle of next week!
