Pelican just released a prototype pedal drive kayak scheduled to hit the market in the near future. This kayak is the Pelican Catch 130HD HyDryve! It uses fin style pedal drive system that you might find similar to the Hobie kayaks but some differences were noted. It was very smooth to operate in my opinion. It felt smoother to pedal than my Hobie M180 pedal drive. The pedal drive doesn't have reverse, but the drive can be flipped backwards to achieve that. Overall, this kayak is incredibly lightweight, stable, and features a drive which simply works beautifully. It also is one of the lowest priced pedal kayaks on the market at $1,499.

The drive well seems similar to that of Hobie kayaks in terms of dimensions so I imagine it will share some compatibility with Hobie motor kits (to be determined)!
