In Jammu and Kashmir, heavy mortar shelling and firing by Pakistani forces in R.S.Pura sector along the Indo-Pak international border in Jammu district, today left three civilians killed and seventeen others injured.
According to Defence sources, the Pakistani forces started unprovoked shelling and firing on Indian positions as well as civilian areas around 2am in the wee hours today.
The BSF troops guarding the border gave a befitting reply to the Pak shelling and the heavy exchanges from both sides lasted till around 10 am Friday morning.
AIR correspondent reports that while two civilians including a woman were killed on the spot, another woman succumbed to injuries at GMC hospital in Jammu.
15 of the seriously injured have been brought to GMC hospital in Jammu where condition of some of them is said to be critical.
As many as one dozen villages and hamlets and an equal number of forward border outposts have been affected by the Pak shelling.
It is clear that Pakistani forces have been deliberately targeting the civilian areas which have triggered panic among the people.
On 15th August, Pak shelling along the LoC in Poonch district had left 6 civilians killed and 20 others injured.
