Amid the growing threats facing ecosystems across the globe, Earth Day (April 22) calls on all people and private and public institutions to “invest in our planet”. It’s a message and a calling that the creators of the world’s largest environmental observance are urging humans everywhere to adopt. Earth Day began in 1970 and has been instrumental in spearheading the modern environmental movement. We dipped into our archives to showcase some of the planet’s most charismatic species and beautiful landscapes – a reminder of what we stand to lose if we do not act now.
