Giant hornets are natural enemies of Japanese honeybees. When a giant hornet attacks, Japanese honeybees take refuge inside their hive. The hive entrance is deliberately narrowed to prevent giant hornets from entering. Unable to enter, the giant hornets walk around in front of the hive entrance. Meanwhile, inside the hive, Japanese honeybees are poised, waiting for the moment a giant hornet enters. If a giant hornet does manage to get inside, the bees create a hot defensive bee ball to kill the hornet, eliminating the threat.
