Originally destined to be heard for the first time in Salisbury Cathedral on its Foundation Day (28 April), the premiere of the Salisbury Anthem has been re-imagined as a virtual performance, led by the Cathedral Choir (all singing remotely) with Salisbury Cathedral Director of Music, David Halls, conducting (remotely).
With words taken from a poem written at the time the Cathedral was being built, set to music composed by James Morgan and Juliette Pochin, a choir of hundreds of voices will sing a song for a place, our place – the Cathedral and the city of Salisbury - sending a message of hope and optimism out into a virtual space that defies any lockdown, crosses borders and reaches into homes, at home and abroad.
A world premiere that is not to be missed!
