#christmasmarket #kadikoychristmas #istanbulvlog Moda is a district in Kadıköy, Istanbul. Moda is an old, quiet, cosmopolitan İstanbul neighbourhood.
On christmas, Istanbul where the cultures and religions meet is -as always- attractive and beautiful. Istanbul is historically and culturally very important in Christianity since its the base of the Orthodox Church. So, even though the city is not fully decorated for Christmas, it is a great idea to be in a Christmas mass in Kadikoy, Moda
The new year is widely celebrated in Turkey but it is fair to say that Istanbul hosts the best New Year markets and events. In many neighborhoods, you will see decorated squares and streets with Christmas lights and decorations. You’ll feel hope and happiness for the upcoming year 2023 everywhere in the city!
Moda is generally considered one of the more pleasant residential districts in the city.
There are numerous churches in Moda with active congregations, and well-known schools, such as the Lycée Saint-Joseph and Kadıköy Anadolu Lisesi.
Hundreds of new bars, cafés, restaurants and shops have opened here, making the area a must-see for those really wanting to get a feel of how the city hangs out these days. While it may be the apple of the eye for an ever-increasing number of Istanbulites, Kadıköy still features a more relaxed vibe than the bustling European side, a fact quite evident upon first visit. If you’re still not convinced, taking a ferry there might just be the best way to soak up Istanbul's inimitable views.
Istanbul’s once-sleepy Asian side is undergoing something of a renaissance thanks to Kadıköy-Moda, a dynamic neighbourhood positioned on the Bosphorus Strait’s southern tip. The best way to arrive here is by ferry, still one of the city’s cheapest thrills at less than a dollar, and a transcontinental commute for many over the Bosphorus, the city’s raison d’être.
Much of Kadıköy hugs this arterial strait, and nowhere competes with its three-kilometre-long waterside park (otherwise known as Moda’s seaside) for sunset views of The Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia. Linger in its promontory Çay gardens and backgammon houses and you’ll soon realise life here is about sea, tea and more tea. Even the hood’s docile stray cats, beloved by the city’s residents since Ottoman times, have embraced Kadıköy’s easy-going milieu.
