Our family got a real treat, getting to ride on a steam powered "Missionary Ridge Local" train. Southern Railway #630 was the power, and thanks to having "Day Out With Thomas" tickets, we were able to get a really nice discount on the local, which goes over four bridges and though the 1858 Missionary Ridge Tunnel. I purchased a cab ride and filmed while standing behind the engineer, while my awesome wife took pictures and did a little filming from her seat in one of the three passenger cars. It was a fun-filled day for our whole family. I encourage you to spend some time at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum and experience it for yourself. I wish I could have captured the smells of the steam engine on camera, but since that wasn't possible, our audio and video will have to do. :) Special thanks to Mr. Ted Yarbrough who mentioned the "railfan special" to me, otherwise I wouldn't have known about the opportunity, let alone made this video.
