Crystal Castles takes the tried-and-tested Pac-Man mechanics of running mazes to collect items and avoid enemies, but throws verticality and a cool isometric perspective into the mix.
It's really quite innovative for 1983, but it's also unbearably (pun intended) difficult. The skittish rotary controls and unrelenting enemy AI (not to mention speed) makes beating the game practically impossible. The worst thing about it is the damned bee swarm, which becomes virtually omnipresent if you take too long beating a particular map!
