A team of renowned international medical professionals has arrived in Zambia to conduct a series of life-saving operations on 25 children suffering from congenital heart defects.
The team, which includes Tanzanians and Israelis, will next week start doing the free heart operations at the National Heart Hospital in Lusaka.
Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary KENNEDY LISHIMPI says the mission signifies the start of a brighter future for countless families and the continued growth of the center of excellence toward achieving global standards.
Dr LISHIMPI says by localizing treatment, the Government is reducing the significant cost associated with seeking treatment abroad.
He said this when he welcomed the international medical professionals and 80 agricultural Zambian students who were on an 11 months internship programme in Israel.
