We’ve been receiving this question more frequently and thought it was a good time to address it for all caregivers who follow us.

👉 Q: Can I use both the vehicle seat belt and lower connectors to install a Britax Car Seat?
👉 A: No, it is not recommended. Here’s why:

1️⃣ Overloading Stress Points: Using both methods can potentially strain the attachment points.

2️⃣ Interference: The seat belt and connectors might hinder each other when used together, compromising the child’s safety in a collision.

3️⃣ Not Crash Tested: We design and test our seats using one method at a time. Using both simultaneously can result in untested performance during a crash.

4️⃣ Installation Errors: Installing both systems simultaneously increases the likelihood of mistakes.

5️⃣ Warranty Implications: Using both methods voids warranties and contradicts manufacturer’s instructions and vehicle guidelines.

✅ Proper Installation: Follow manufacturer’s instructions and use either the seat belt or LATCH system, not both. NOTE: Be sure to the seat doesn’t move more than an inch left to right or front to back once it’s installed.
