The Descender is an all mountain directional ripper that offers all the power and control you’ll ever wished for. Speed window is huge and were aspiring for best in class performance and spent a lot of time developing this shape. Descender is a competition-ready freeride board maxing out on confident inspiring performance. Developed with feedback from group of seasoned Swedish freeriders including two time Scandinavian Big Mountain champion Stefan Östling
It’s a Swiss knife kind of board which can handle the gnarliest terrain but at the same time is playful enough for backcountry freestyle.
For your reference sidecut is 8,9 meter on the 161. Which is large enough for charging big lines but tight enough to allow a lot of playfulness even in the park. One of the secrets lies in the nose and tail shapes.
Reverse is mellow out in to the nose which is an evolution of our hammerhead nose found on Bowlrider and Tree Surfer. In softer snow you will ride this almost zero side cut which harmonies with the very pronounced pin tail shape outside the sidecut. When putting on edge you engage the radius riding deep snow you ride the pintail shape. This solves a problem that a lot of big mountain board has - feeling dead and lifeless at lower speeds due to a oversized turning radius. The Descender has a lot of drive already at low speeds.
Descender has a low but long camber section. We kept the height under the rear foot by using an elliptical radius instead of a more common radial, to maximize pop with rapid springiness to the flex. Descender is energetic under foot. It then goes over in to a mellow rocker in nose and tail.
This is our first model using a lightweight core with half width strips of full length paulownia mixed with poplar and ash stringers, snappy but still damp thanks to the double ash stringers and uni directional carbon stringers and PU-sidewalls. We have created a “sandwich” with incredible impact and impressive tensile strength and durability, while remaining low in weight. You will be amazed howe light this board is when picking it up!
So who’s this board for? It covers most bases, from high alpine missions over to backcountry freestyle. Tail is pronounced enough for switch landings. And the board is stiff enough for speed but playful enough in tip and tail for an intermediate rider looking for next level performance.
Lenghts: 158, 161 mid wide, 166 mid wide, 162 wide, 166 wide. 148 and 152 womens.
