Seahawks legend and former NFL defensive lineman Cliff Avril doesn’t cook at home. He revealed that tidbit before we even got started on this episode of I Cook, You Measure presented by Safeway. But as it turned out the Pro Bowler and Super Bowl Champion can hold his own in the kitchen, at least when it comes to making this skinnytaste meal of Crab Stuffed shrimp.
As I mention in the show, I love using this recipe as an appetizer or for a Super Bowl party because it looks impressive, comes together in just a few minutes and cooks on one cookie sheet.
It gave Cliff and I plenty of time to talk about:
12:00 – his NFL career numbers
18:00 – Virtual Master Chef
20:00 – adventures in grocery shopping
The conversation was so good we couldn’t fit everything into the full episode. You’ll want to watch the Bonus Bites episode for a more in-depth conversation about his football career including an 0-16 season in Detroit, how he learned to fit in to the locker room when he arrived in Seattle, reflections on his career ending injury and the fight he had with former teammate Michael Bennett that led to their friendship.
