The event will be held in the format of a rally and will start at 20.00 CET at the Museum Square in Amsterdam. Legendary stars of the most popular song contest in Europe, as well as political leaders, public activists, and cultural figures will participate in the project. Admission is free, the duration of the rally is two hours.
In addition to the addresses given by politicians and opinion leaders and video stories about Ukraine, the audience will see performances by the winners and legends of the Eurovision Song Contest Kalush Orchestra, Conchita Wurst, Emmelie de Forest, Jamala, Ruslana, and VERKA SERDUCHKA, and also performances by the European stars Blind Channel and Malik Harris. Also, the popular singer S10 who represented the Netherlands at this year's song contest will perform the song “De Diepte”.
The live broadcast of the rally will be available in English on the YouTube channels of 1+1 and Atlas Festival.
The event will be held prior to the European Council session in Brussels. Its goal is to consolidate the European audience around Ukraine's willingness to become part of the EU family. The marathon will also be raising funds via the UNITED24 global fundraising platform — for the purchase of C-arm X-ray machines for healthcare institutions that provide medical assistance to the wounded and injured people as a result of the full-scale war of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
"Our third telethon will take place at a crucial time for the future of Europe. At a time when Ukraine is fighting not only for its freedom, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, but also defending common European values and entire Europe from Russian invaders. At this point, the most important political decision we are expecting is granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership. Ukraine has earned it. The telethon in Amsterdam is aimed at consolidating support for Ukraine in order to gain the victory in the war, and legal securing of our country's European future at the EU summit in late June," Dmytro Kuleba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, commented on the importance of the event.
The graphic symbol of the project, which serves as a foundation for all visual communication, is an anatomical heart with the map of Ukraine, created by the team of the FROLOV brand. The blue and yellow heart is a real perpetual motion machine which beats in rhythm with the entire civilized world, giving hope for a bright future for Ukraine in the European family.
"Ukraine is a European state — geographically, historically, in terms of its democratic views and values. Just like our culture, art and traditions have always been part of the European space. Today, we are resisting against the Russian Federation’s aggression with all our might, acting as a shield for the entire Europe. We are fighting for peace, our independence, our freedom, and the democratic values of the whole civilized world. I believe that now none of our civilized neighbors has any doubt that Ukraine is an integral part of Europe. Today, our artists, performers and authors captivate European stages and screens of Europe, and the hearts of Europeans along with them. Therefore, this event will once again open for millions of spectators a cultural, talented, strong and free Ukraine, which should be part of the EU on legal grounds," Oleksandr Tkachenko, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine, added.
The organizers of the telethon Embrace Ukraine — #StrivingTogether are one of the largest media holdings 1+1 media, the most large-scale festival in Eastern Europe Atlas Festival. The project partners are Vodafone Ukraine, Mastercard Ukraine, Oschadbank and the Dynamo Kyiv football club, the main media partner is the morning show “Breakfast with 1+1”.
