Twitter is changing its name to X and it has a brand new logo. I took this as an opportunity to try and design my own take at X's logo as a learning exercise for junior designers.
A logo is not just a shape, it needs to have meaning. So I am sharing with you my quick 1 hour exercise showing how to think about the meaning of a brand mark and how to then build on top of that.
Of course there's a lot more that goes into making true brands (and not just "logos") and I strongly admire branding studios - their work is often extraordinary.
However the freelance reality for most UI designers is that you will be also asked by clients to make a logo sometimes. And no, they will not want a brand book or even a set of rules, just the shape is enough for most.
So how do you approach these forcibly quick logo design exercises so that there's at least some meaning to it? Watch this video to find out!
