Onion Pakoda Recipe
Ingredients:
2 onions, thinly sliced
2-3 stems curry leaves, chopped
3 green chilies, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
Salt, to taste
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/4 tsp cumin (jeera) powder
2 tsp chili powder (adjust to taste)
1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
20 cashews, halved
1 tbsp rice flour
Water, as needed
Method:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced onions, chopped curry leaves, green chilies, and cashews.
2. Add salt, garam masala, cumin powder, and chili powder to the mixture. Mix well to coat the onions evenly with the spices.
3. Add the gram flour and rice flour to the bowl. Gradually add water, little by little, to form a thick, sticky batter. Ensure the mixture holds together without being too watery.
4. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat.
5. Take small portions of the batter and drop them carefully into the hot oil.
6. Fry until the pakodas are golden brown and crisp.
7. Remove from oil and drain on a paper towel to remove excess oil.
Serve hot with mint chutney or ketchup. Enjoy your crispy onion pakodas!
