Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has resigned from his post as the UN special envoy for climate action to focus his attention on running for the U.S. presidency.
According to the UN spokesperson on Monday,... the billionaire businessman sent a letter of resignation to Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on November 11th,... nearly two weeks before officially announcing his bid.
The 77-year-old announced his candidacy on Sunday in a written statement,... saying he's running for president "to defeat Donald Trump and rebuild America".
His entrance comes just ten weeks before primary voting begins.
