US First Lady #JillBiden held a surprise meeting with #OlenaZelenska, the Ukrainian First Lady, on Mother's Day during her unannounced visit to western Ukraine.
The two First Ladies joined children to work on art projects for their mothers at a school, which is also a shelter, currently housing 163 displaced people, including 47 children in Uzhhorod city.
Biden said the war in #Ukraine had to stop and it had been "brutal".
Zelenska thanked Biden for her "courageous act" to come to Ukraine amid the war.
Biden traveled under a cloak of secrecy, becoming the latest high-profile American to enter Ukraine as Russia presses the war in eastern regions.
