Judging by Jeff Traugott’s finely crafted guitars, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to find out that he worked for Santa Cruz Guitar Company before striking out on his own. Since setting up his workshop in 1991, he has been crafting a very select number of instruments each year, allowing him to give his full attention to each guitar and to each musician for whom he builds.
The Model R is his most popular design, comparable in size to a standard Martin OM, but ever so slightly bigger overall. Full-bodied and easy-playing, it's a delightfully versatile instrument in any tonewood combination. Built with one of the rarest sets of "Kentucky" Brazilian rosewood & German spruce, this instrument is a true masterpiece.
Though overall a very well-balanced guitar, it's impossible not to notice the commanding, powerful lows and bright, soaring highs - it's just Brazilian rosewood at its finest. The original owner of this 2012 model had Jeff inlay the phrase "Music Is Life" in Japanese characters on the fretboard. It remains in excellent condition, and comes with its original Hoffee hard case.
