In this video I show you how I turned a koi pond into aquaponics. This aquaponics system was a simple diy aquaponics design using my existing Koi fish pond and my kids swimming pools.

Aquaponics is a sustainable, closed-loop farming system where fish waste is used as a plant nutrient. Water and nutrients from the fish waste travels into a biological filter, solids are then removed and nutrient rich water flows around the backyard using gravity into two vegetable grow beds. These vegetable grow beds contain a bell siphon that drains all the water from them every 10mins and flows into two tanks under them. The water movement oxygenates the fish below.

I have silver perch fingerlings in the two black tubs below the aquaponics grow beds. This simple aquaponics experiment was very basic. It shows that you can use anything in a DIY aquaponics system.
