During 1993 the Fridays only 17.25 Cardiff to Manchester Oxford Road was booked for 2 x 31's.

On this particular day a single 31 was used for the ECS working to Cardiff before its return in the shape of 'Skinhead' 31418.

After recently being named 'Cathays C&W Works 1846-1993' class 37 37414 was added to the 31 at Cardiff to work the 17.25 service to Manchester Oxford Road.
