Tsegaye Tadesse, an applied climatology associate professor at the University of Nebraska and a Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute Faculty Fellow, developed a white paper on drought risk management and resilience in Africa as a consultant for the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization.
Tadesse lead a team of experts and presented the white paper to African ministers at the first ever African drought conference in Namibia in August 2016.
The ministers adopted the strategic framework, now called the Strategic Framework for Drought Risk Management and Enhancing Resilience in Africa.
