Decaying houses, abandoned buildings, forgotten cities... The cinema of Chinese director Jia Zhangke revolves around these destroyed spaces, showing at the same time the internal mechanism of his characters' relationships, but also (and mainly) the state of the country, a China whose landscape never ceases to change.
