As far as Fireworks for Protection goes... when we sail for the Panama Canal we will have to navigate through the Pirate waters off the coast of Honduras. We don't carry weapons onboard so should we be chased by pirates... one line of defence (among others) is to toss large fireworks (what look like mini dynamite sticks) at our attackers. It's paranoia at this point, but defence just the same.
