Hi this is Warner and today I’m in Chandler AZ its August 26, 2019 and I’m looking at a queen palm that had its top broken in the last monsoon we had a few days ago.
As you can see the neighbor’s tree across the street also had the top broken in the wind. However, there are many queen palms that had tops that survived.
So, what makes the difference.
Well put simply Queen Palms need a lot of manganese to fight disease and make the compounds for strong tops.
In places like Florida and California there is manganese in the soil and the soil is also acidic so the metals can move, but her in Arizona the soil is alkaline and any metals that might be present don’t move easily, and of course there is no naturally occurring manganese in our soil.
As most people were taught in high school science metals play an important role in the process of photosynthesis in green plants. Iron, copper, manganese and magnesium are essential cofactors in various proteins and pigment-protein complexes. See [ Ссылка ]
Queen Palms need a lot of manganese and thy also need a lot of green fronds to make strong tops and the Antimicrobial peptides that plants use to fight disease. [ Ссылка ]
So what I’m doing here is giving the customer a handout which you can download from our new mobile friendly website (I’m finishing up now) at [ Ссылка ] it will give him a place to buy an appropriate fertilizer spike for queen palm trees as well as watering instructions and instructions on trimming. Remember trim only the dead - the greener the better.
I’m Injecting manganese directly into the tree now.
The customer gets the spikes and puts them in as soon as posable.
I come back in three months and inject the tree again.
Three months later the customer feeds the tree and every six months from now on.
If all goes well in two or three years, the tree is healthy again.
