John Charles Thomas, 1975 University of Virginia School of Law graduate and retired justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, discusses the modern significance of the Civil Rights Act and the legacy of Brown v. Board of Education during his Jan. 22 talk at the Law School. Thomas' presentation was part of a two-week, University-wide celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day and was sponsored by UVA Law's Center for the Study of Race and Law and the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School. Alex Johnson Jr., professor of law and director of the Center for the Study of Race and Law, introduced Thomas.
