Our Story—
What you wear is what you represent and in order to create an impact, we are committed to telling stories through fashion and design. Our founder, Michelle K. Hanabusa, was inspired by an iconic photo of the Gidra Sisterhood from 1969. They were the first Asian American publication created by young men and women who stood for AAPI representation at a time when their immigrant families were too scared to speak up. Gidra is now known to be the pioneers and “The Voice of the Asian American Movement.” We were lucky enough to chat with some of the OG’s and design merchandise inspired by their movement. This has instilled the core DNA of UPRISERS. The middle finger is more than just a rebellious symbol. It represents the need for change.

We create dope sh*t. You may have seen us or someone wearing UPRISERS. But we go beyond fashion by uniquely blending in our design, fashion, and marketing community into one. Our Community—
With the recent pandemic and need for a systematic change has come to the forefront, it has provided clarity on where we will be taking UPRISERS in the future. We will continue to amplify voices that make an impact, and we will do this through apparel and design. We will continue to develop our own collections and collaborate with like-minded individuals / brands who are not afraid of social change. As the UPRISERS team had much time to think and reflect over the last few months, we still stand strong (even more strongly now) on delivering impactful collections that inspire change.
