Whether your water softener is a time clock or demand initialed, metered water softener it needs to know when to regenerate the media inside the tank to keep softening your water. Since we need to regenerate the media at a time when there is very little water usage in the home it is usually set to regenerate during the night, so of course you don’t hear it. But you can do one of two things to check it out.
The first is that you can manually regenerate the water softener right now by pressing and holding down the regeneration cycle button for 5 or more seconds. When it starts up it should go through all 5 or so cycles and end up back in the service or home position, typically displaying the current time.
The second thing you can do, is to temporarily set the regeneration time a couple of minutes down the road and put it back into service to see if it regenerates by itself. Be sure to change the regen time back to a time when there is very little water usage in the home.
Assuming it goes through all of it’s cycles correctly and starts the regeneration cycle at it’s programmed time, it’s working correctly. If you still need to trouble shoot your water softener, check out my step by step water softening troubleshooting video here, and I’ll see you there [ Ссылка ]
