Dimple Yadav of the Samajwadi Party and Raghuraj Singh Shakya of the BJP will face off in a direct election in the Mainpuri parliamentary constituency. The death of Samajwadi Party (SP) founder Mulayam Singh Yadav prompted the byelection in Mainpuri. To honour party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, the SP wants to win in its stronghold. The BJP selected Shivpal Yadav's apprentice Shakya in the hopes of winning the support of the PSPL "strongman," therefore the SP's decision to endorse them has come as a shock. We have with us a few panelists who will be presenting their opinions on this matter. "Absolutely, because BJP has proved time and time again that dynasty politics is not the safe way forward in this country. Also I understand that Prateek has continuously been with the Samajwadi Party but that was because of Neta ji. You remember what happened in Dimple Yadav's own election last time" said Charu Pragya, BJP Spokesperson. The BJP, on the other hand, is hopeful that a victory in Mainpuri will help it in its effort to capture all 80 of Uttar Pradesh's parliamentary seats in the general elections of 2024. After taking down SP strongholds Azamgarh and Rampur in the June byelections, it is optimistic about its chances.
