Ancestors are our heavenly court. They are the ones that have risen to ancestral position and power. They look after us from the ancestral realm. They also go back and forth to assist us in our daily lives and endeavors. This prayer song uses a combination of traditional Yoruba prayers translated to English & creative additions. In this video there is a nod to Gullah Geechee Ancestors of the U.S. At the start of the video, the tapping of the Ancestor staff and the chant "You gotta right, you gotta right, you gotta right to the key o life" is a ring shout from that tradition. The tapping of the Ancestral staff (stick) was one of the few ritual acts and rhythms that was kept from our African traditions in the U.S. until today. The staff used in the sound of this video is an actual consecrated ancestral staff. Some of the video photos show the Gullah Geechee people in public ceremony.
