The most famous landmark in Mons is the city's bell tower, also known as El Catiau, which stands on the former castle hill above the town and is a UNESCO-World-Heritage-listed site. The 87-meter-high tower was built between 1661 and 1672, designed by Anthony Vincent and Louis Ledoux.
