"Football commentators at home like to talk of players moving into space, here they go one better - they move out of it."
Martin Bell reports from the Baltimore Civic Center, home of the Baltimore Blast six-a-side indoor soccer team. The Blast are taking on the New Jersey Rockets, and emerge onto the pitch to rapturous applause from a giant flying saucer. According to their manager - ex Blackburn Rovers reserves keeper, Kenny Cooper - this is "the most elaborate psych-up in the league". It's a claim borne out by the Blast's impressive 9 - 2 victory.
Could this sort of razzmatazz be just the sort of thing the faltering English game needs?
