This is a brief tribute to the North Staffordshire Miners' Wives Action Group and the Women Against Pit Closures. Established during the 1984 Miners' Strike, the North Staffs group are still active and supporting local families of our mining community - long after deep-coal mining ended with the closure of Silverdale Colliery in 1998. Their contribution to our community is immense.
