►In Argentina, the vice president has survived an apparent assassination attempt. Cristina Fernandez was greeting supporters outside her home when a man pointed a gun directly at her face. The president says the gun was loaded, and the man pulled the trigger. The only reason Ms Fernandez was unharmed is because it misfired.
