Amara Chineme, our Team Lead and Founder, took the stage at #YALIFest2024, a remarkable gathering of over 500 young and seasoned leaders, visionaries, and alumni at the National Museums of Kenya. This incredible event was organized by the Mandela Washington Fellowship Alumni Kenya and YALI RLC EA - Alumni Chapter of Kenya, with support from USAID, celebrating leadership, innovation, and the empowerment of Africa’s next generation of changemakers.
In her powerful Ignite Talk, Amara shared her story of resilience—how personal challenges, including a stroke and the need to leave her corporate career, became catalysts for her mission-driven work. Today, she empowers single mothers through EmpowerHERVenture and leads JoyMed Healthcare, a B2B2C venture delivering critical healthcare solutions to underserved communities. Amara’s passion for uplifting women and transforming communities was front and center as she encouraged the audience to believe in the power of purpose-driven leadership.
She was honored to share the podium with incredible leaders like Brenda Karimi, founder of the Smart Girl Mentorship Program, who has empowered over 10,000 girls across Kenya. Together, they explored the transformative potential of entrepreneurship and community building. The session was expertly moderated by Tracy Opon, who sparked thought-provoking discussions, and hosted by the dynamic Kevins Randiek, whose energy kept the audience engaged throughout.
A special thanks to Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Ambassador Marc Dillard, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy Kenya, and representatives from the U.S. Department of State for their unwavering support in making YALIFest 2024 a platform for growth and change.
